Good and gracious God,
We come again to the time we set asi
de for gratitude.
We have much to be thankful for, even amidst our challenges.
We thank you for the gift of our lives
and for all those scientists, doctors, nurses, and caregivers
who fight for the lives of those affected by this pandemic.
Bless their lives and their work.
May we honor them by keeping vigilant
so the hope engendered by any sign that the illness is abating
will be fully realized and we will see the end of this disease.
We thank you for the time we had with those whose lives have been lost
and for the blessings they brought to us every day they were with us.
May we never take for granted a moment we have on earth.
We thank you for the gift of so many being able to gather in person this year.
Let us never forget those who cannot gather, who have no one to share their table,
or who sacrifice their time on this holiday to meet our essential needs.
We thank you for the food we share this day.
May the spirit of generosity that fills our homes
fill the entire world until no one is hungry or without shelter.
We ask all these things in the name of your greatest gift to us,
for whom we are always grateful, your Son, Jesus.
Amen
